ILFF DOCUMENTARY FILM MASTERCLASS – CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
The third annual In Light Film Festival (April 7th– 9th 2017) is pleased to announce a masterclass on documentary filmmaking facilitated by Johanna Sokolowski, Kate Trumbull-LaValle (directors) Ovarian Psycos (2016) and Matthias Kossmehl (director) and Andreas Nicolai (film editor), Cafe Waldluft (2015) The workshop will cover in detail the processes and challenges of a documentary film project from conception to release. Students interested in filmmaking, social justice, international studies, and ethnography are strongly encouraged to apply.
The masterclass will take place Saturday, April 8th, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in the Hoagy Carmichael Room (Morrison Hall, Room 006). The masterclass will have two sessions, and light brunch will be provided.
The masterclass is free and open to all Indiana University students. Below is the detailed schedule of the event:
- 9:00-10:50 Part I – with Johanna Sokolowski, Kate Trumbull-LaValle (directors) Ovarian Psycos
- 10:50-11:10 – Brunch Break
- 11:10-13:00 – Part II with Matthias Kossmehl (director) and Andreas Nicolai (film editor), Cafe Waldluft
In addition, the festival is pleased to announce two fellowships in the amount of $100 to be awarded to workshop attendees interested in pursuing their own documentary film or creative projects, provided by the IU School of Education. All IU undergraduate or graduate students attending the workshop are encouraged to apply.
Applications (for both attendance and the fellowship) are due no later than March 15, 2017.
